Why a Bible and a guitar was added to Bob marley’s casket when he was laid to rest


We all know Bob marley to be the father of contemporary reggae music whose inspirational and educating songs spread across the Jamaica and African countries most especially the west Africa.

He was mostly loved for his pan Africanism and call for peace as he often preached about the need for humans of all races to come together as one and live harmoniously on this earth.

Born with the name Robert Nesta Marley but popularly known by his stage name as bob marley was a Jamaican Reggae singer, songwriter, and musician who is known to be one of the pioneers of reggae which became popular in a lot of countries and became common in west Africa. 

He was born on the 6th of February 1945 in nine mile in southern Jamaica on the north American continent of the world. The fascinating part of his life was the fact that marley was an Afro Christian who cherished the Bible so much as it gave him the inspiration to write songs with his favorite les paul guitar, his Bible , a football and some Jamaican leaves. 

On the 11th of May 1981 at the age of 36 years the legendary reggae musician died of pigmented skin cancer at the university of Miami hospital in the United States of America. 

Upon his own request on his death bed, bob marley tasked his family to bury him alongside his Bible , his les paul guitar and some leaves to aid him continue his life in the afterworld. 

Bob marley despite departed several years ago , his music is still being played day in day out as though they are recently released songs due to the educative and wisdom content in it. He has left the mark for many up and coming reggae musicians in and around the world who wish to replicate his legacy. 

A monument of him was made at his grave yard in Jamaica in his legacy as his grave in now one of the most prestigious national grounds in Jamaica which attracts many tourist from all parts of the world.
