Hajia Bintu is trending heavily on Twitter and other major social media platforms due to an advertisement that she was involved in.
If you don't know Hajia Bintu, she is an emerging social media influencer who rose to prominence by shaking her assets in almost all of her TikTok videos. She became more famous after Shatta Wale, a renowned Ghanaian musician, made a song dedicated solely to her.
Hajia Bintu this time round is not trending for the right reasons. In the advertisement, she was promoting a new brand of biscuits. The biscuit is the London Oats Digestive biscuit.
The advertisement has however caused a massive backlash towards Twillium company (the company behind the product and advert) and at Hajia Bintu.
Why Are Ghanaians Bashing Twillium Company?
Ghanaians bashed the Twillium Company because they believe they went for the wrong brand influencer to market a product they have mentioned is targeted towards kids.
Some concerned Ghanaians even expressed that, if the company truly wanted to target kids, they would have gone for an influencer such as DJ Switch and not Hajia Bintu.
Why Are Ghanaians Bashing Hajia Bintu?
Ghanaians went on to descend on Hajia Bintu as well, thus, leading to her trend on Twitter. Ghanaians complained that the marketing of the biscuit didn't warrant her turning to show and shake her backside.
Some comment that it's her "endowed assets" that seemed to be showcased rather than the actual biscuits.
Beyond the gestures Hajia Bintu portrayed in the advertisements, Ghanaians also picked on her eloquence. Many commented that they were surprised and disappointed, thus further proving that she was less qualified to handle the advertisement.
Twillium Takes Action
The Massive Backlash from Ghanaians caused the company to take down the Ad which was present on their various social media handles.
