Mr. Dwumfour continued,In this regard, a seven-member GJA Media Awards Review Committee headed by Dr. Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo, a well-known broadcast journalist and professor at the University of Ghana's Department of Communication Studies, was established to reorganize the awards.

The President said that the committee decided to cut the number of award categories from 56 to 37 and did a re-design and re-description of some award categories to make them clearer and have more impact.

"In the past, the event was known as Awards-Dinner Night, and the awards ceremony included dinner. However, "in the interest of time and focus," he added, "the National Executive decided to prune the dinner from the awards as part of the review."
