Politicians who make disparaging comments about people without any fact should desist from it, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has cautioned.
According to the lecturer, Kennedy Agyapong in the past made disparaging remarks about Mr. Agyebeng, describing him as ‘lawyers for hardened criminals’ among others.
He said those vile attacks on Mr. Agyebeng are now hurting his chances of becoming Ghana’s Special Prosecutor.
He also noted that the newly nominated Special Prosecutor has become a subject of ridicule owning to negative comments Kennedy Agyapong made about him as the lawyer for investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“There is a video on WhatsApp and people are playing back all things Hon. Kennedy Agyapong said about Kissi Agyabeng…and they are asking sarcastic questions about it that ‘is this our special prosecutor,’” he said on Wuntomi TV.
Kissi Agyebeng has reportedly been penciled for appointment as the next Special Prosecutor.
He is currently the chairman of the Electronic Communication Tribunal and a law lecturer at the University of Ghana.
The position of Special Prosecutor became vacant following the resignation of Martin Amidu in 2020.
Mr. Amidu had accused the president of interfering in his work following his corruption risk assessment report into the Agyapa deal.
The report made damning claims against the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
