No serious country will trend 'Washawasay' - Kwabena Kwabena

Ghanaian Highlife musician George Kwabena Adu stage name Kwabena Kwabena says a country that is serious with its music business will not trend washawasay.

According to kwabena kwabena, while musicians in other countries are focused on creating good music that would generate revenue and market their countries, Ghanaians are more concerned with petty matters.

He believes that the country should treat music as a business rather than something to do to pass the time so that some level of seriousness may be maintained.

We popularize certain songs which in my opinion the sensationalism is too much and the humour is too much. Music is not comedy, music is serious business

He added, “why are we playing with it. We always make examples with our neighbours. Have you seen how serious they are? They won’t sing whashawa say

The "washawasay" trend was created by Cecelia Marfo. Cecilia Marfo has been in the trends after videos of her trying to sing English songs with the wrong pronunciation. Popular amongst them was “what Shall I say Unto The Lord” which she pronounced as “whashawa say”.
