Ghanaians are always wondering why the people from the Volta part of Ghana are called number 9. Some Ghanaians claim it is because of the the alleged juju miracles displayed by the Ewes are the reason why they are called number 9.
Some also claim that, Voltarians are made of nice ladies among all other tribes.
We have finally found the reason why the Voltarians. In the year 1957, Monica Amekoafia who was a Voltarian won the first edition of Miss Ghana Contest.
Monica who was representing the Ewes the contestant number 9. It was from her number that people from the Volta Region are called Number 9.
The untold story has been told, we must be proud of Voltarians on many occasions, the first region to win the Miss Ghana Contest.
It is time we pay attention to our histories.
