Rap music is an adopted genre from the West and arguably the most preferred genre across the world. Through the years, Ghana has produced some good rappers and this piece is going to talk about the top 10 we have in the country now.
- Kwesi Arthur
- Joey B
- Kofi Mole
- Flowking Stone
The “Auntie Martha” hitmaker is one of Ghana’s finest rappers and comes as number 10 on this list. The one-time artiste of the year has had so many hit songs to his name with some being “Mi Naa Bo Po”, Kaalu, Abaa, etc. EL has worked with a very large range of acts.
9. Flowking Stone
The Kumasi-based rapper has always been in his circles with no controversy surrounding him. Although Flowing appears to be a very silent act, his flow and punches speak otherwise. Flowking Stone is hardly recognized but this is someone who has average of 10k youtube views.
8. Kofi Mole
The Tema-based rapper is one of the young ones who can take the rap game to a different level. The “don’t be late hitmaker” has a very good sense of humor which is very evident in his songs. He averages 15k views on youtube.
7. Joey B
This is the naughtiest rapper in the country and his number 1 hit, “tonga” attests to that. Joey has not been lucky with awards but that does not stop him from being one of the best. Joey B broke into the scene at a very tender age and has been consistent since then.
The Fante rapper came into the scene in 2012 and released his first single in 2014 which featured Sarkodie. Teephlow has had several nominations by VGMA and 3music awards, therefore can’t be left out of this list.
The former Sarkcess signee is a hardcore rapper with heavy bars. Strongman has 224k youtube views averagely. He has made hits with some top acts like Medical, Akwaboah, Sarkodie, etc.
The AMG signee brought some life into the rap game. His fashion sense can’t be left out as he’s nicknamed “Swag king kong”. He was awarded rapper of the year in VGMA’S last edition. Medical has also worked with a very wide range of acts including, Stonebwoy, Davido, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, etc.
3. Kwesi Arthur
The BET Awards nominee is already a top act and has earned features with Nasty C, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Joeboy, etc. The Tema-based rapper is admired for his simple style and it will be no news if Kwesi starts making waves in the international space.
The literature rapper is the son of a popular and respected lawyer, Tsatsu Tsikata and that’s evident of the kind of lyrics Manifest sings. You actually need a dictionary to be able to digest some of Manifest’s songs. He has won several awards both locally and internationally.
This man has no competition across the continent at large. Sarkodie is undoubtedly the best in the game. His awards speak for how huge he is. Sarkodie is the most decorated rapper in Ghana and Africa.
