Hi lovely people hope everyone is doing well am back with another article again which talks about AB Crenstil
It is good to celebrate legends by organizations that use creative contents to drive their programs and shows and the Despite Media, didn't leave the evergreen Albert Benjamin Crenstil(AB Crenstil) in its social responsibility of honoring legends. Ours may be on the way soon.
The discussions started with a business move that can only be uncovered by smart guys like some of us. Abeiku espoused the great land acquisition by the enigmatic, Kwame A Plus at the Budunburam enclave in the Central Region to build a city. Smart business advertisement. Great idea. The attention now shifted to AB Crenstil, the celebrant of the night. The other panelists, elegant looking Whitney Boakye-Mensah and Bulldogod, were cool on the night.
He narrated his life story, the difficulties from the formation of bands, trekking around the country, his stints with the El Dorado's Band from the Abooso Glass Factory, The Medican Lantics in Takoradi, Sweet Talks Band in Tema and finally forming his own band, Ahenfo! I have followed his craft since the early 70's. I remember my father and i went to the GNTC supermarket, Kumasi in 1975, to buy the Adam's Apple album when it was released. AB Crenstil has served well.
He was given the microphone and he sang his heart out. I loved the renditions of "Yɛ wo obi baa ɛwiase mu" and the others. At 77 years, he tried his best on the night though, you could feel the tiredness in his voice and speech. The fragility of man.
Bless was a delight to watch but, his performance was too ordinary for me on the night. He is a great artiste though. The sound could have been better on the night.
The night ended with the donation of a tv set, a fridge from Hisense and a cash of 10,000 gh. Kudos to the management of utv especially, Fadda Dickson.
Next time, the producers should provide props for every act. There should have been a microphone stand to allow AB to play his African drum(dondo)through instead of Abeiku Santana holding it and extra back up vocalists, engaged to harmonize the parts well. The lady alone doing the bv's didn't help. It doesn't look professional. What a night. Show ended at 00.45 this morning with 1k views on Facebook.
