Sammie Okposo, a Nigerian gospel singer, has away at the age of 51.
He passed away on Friday morning, according to his project manager Hillary Vincent.
Unconfirmed sources state that he allegedly slumped and died at home, albeit the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
Prior to his passing, the Wellu Wellu singer had lately made headlines for marital infidelity-related problems.
He admitted in a post that he had cheated on his wife while visiting the US in late 2021 and requested Nigerians to pray for him.
He had stated, "On my most recent trip to the USA, I engaged in personal relations with a woman despite being aware that this was inappropriate for a married guy and a gospel pastor. My loving wife Ozioma, my family, and I have suffered greatly as a result of my actions, for which I am ashamed and regret them.
He also took a hiatus from all ministry activities till he had fully recovered while he prayed to God for forgiveness.
"As I work toward making peace with God, confessing my sins, and pleading with Him for forgiveness, I am suspending myself from all ministry activity until full restoration as this is proper and what I know I owe God and His people, " he had stated.
I truly apologise to Ozioma, my wife, for putting you in this awkward and disgusting predicament. I betrayed your confidence and let you down.
