Over the past decade, Valentine’s Day has grown into a holiday that’s not just about romantic love, but also an opportunity to celebrate all the important relationships in our lives. This year put that trend on hold due to the increasing factor of the Covid-19 pandemic and the safety protocol included. Ghana for example has recorded 5,358 active cases with hospitalisation rates increasing, with the number of critically and severely ill persons now at 172.
Of which, Nana Akuffo-Addo explained; has led to the re-imposition of some restrictions. Therefore, in his current nation's address, he placed a ban on funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances, and parties. However, "private burials with not more than 25 persons in attendance can be held. Beaches, night clubs, cinemas, and pubs would also remain shut.”
To that effect, proper Val's day event in Ghana like, lover's rock, Kwabena Kwabena's love concert, live band events for lovers among others couldn't hold. Family, friends and loved ones were not perturbed by the ban on outdoors events.
Instead, they managed to find a small way of enjoying Val's day with friends and loved ones.
Most Celebrities found amazing ways of making their Val's day celebration a memorable one by taking to social media to give their fans and loved ones videos and photo shoots of them in order to excite and celebrate the special day with them.
Ghanaian actress and movie Producer, Tracey Boakye, shared special packages for her fans to mark the Val's day which signifies love and sharing with loved ones.
Afia Schwarzenegger made some donations to the Chief Iman to celebrate her birthday which happened to be on Val's day. Other Celebrities made some donations of which they did off camera and didn't put on social media.
