Mr. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. popularly known in showbiz as Shatta Wale turned himself in after the police announced a search for the artiste for his involvement in an alleged gunshot attack on him which tuned out to be a hoax. Prior to Shatta Wale's arrest two days ago, three others had been arrested for their involvement in this issue.
There were reports that the popular dancehall artiste had been granted bail but this development turned out to be false. The artiste remains in police custody and is set to be arraigned before the law court today, Thursday, October 21, 2021.
The charges against Shatta Wale are yet to be made known by the police but the artiste could be hit with a number of them. Some of which include publication of false news with the intention to cause fear and panic. The publication of false news with the intention to cause fear and panic is a criminal offence according to Section 208 (1) of the Criminal Code Act, 1960 (Act 29).
