The hero who was portrayed in the Oscar-nominated movie; ‘Hotel Rwanda’, Paul Rusesabagina has landed in trouble; as his journey as a celebrated figure in the Rwanda, and around the world has turned into a sad story.
Paul Rusesabagina is a Belgian/Rwandan politician, who worked as the manager of the Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali, during a period in which it housed 1,268 Hutu and Tutsi refugees from the Interahamwe militia, during the Rwandan genocide, making sure none of these refugees were hurt or killed during the genocide 27 years ago.
Mr. Rusesabagina; age 67, was found guilty and convicted by a Rwandan Court for terrorism of backing a rebel group in a series of attacks, which saw nine civilians dead in Rwanda in the year 2018.
According to his family, Mr. Rusesabagina who has been in exile was taken back to Rwanda by force to face trials.
The very popular movie, ‘Hotel Rwanda’ is a 2004 Oscar-nominated movie co-written by George and Keir Pearson; with stars like Don Cheadle (as hotelier Paul Rusesabagina), and Sophie Okonedo (as his wife Tatiana).
