Remember Michael Scofield from prison break? This is what actually happened to him

Wentworth Earl Miller III (born 2 June 1972) is an English-American actor and screenwriter. He rose to prominence following his starring role as Michael Scofield in the Fox series Prison Break, for which he received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama in 2005. He made his screenwriting debut with the 2013 thriller film Stoker. In 2014, he began playing Leonard Snart / Captain Cold in a recurring role on The CW series The Flash before becoming a series regular on the spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow.

In 1995, Miller relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He has stated that his rocky road to stardom "was a long time in the coming and there were a lot of upsets and a lot of failures and roadblocks, but I couldn't walk away from it. I needed it like I needed air, it was just something I had to do. "Miller's first TV appearance was as student-turned-sea monster Gage Petronzi on Buffy the Vampire Slayer ("Go Fish", 1998).

Miller's first starring role was in 2002 as the sensitive, introverted David Scott in ABC's mini-series Dinotopia. After appearing in a few minor television roles, he moved on to co-star in the 2003 film The Human Stain, playing the younger version of the Anthony Hopkins character, Coleman Silk. He identified strongly with the core dilemma of the movie, about a black man who chooses to "pass" as white. Miller worked extensively on the role, not only in researching Anthony Hopkins, but by embarking on a four-month regimen to accurately portray Silk as a boxer. Also in 2003, he had a minor role in the film Underworld, playing a doctor and friend of the character Michael Corvin.

Although Scofield didn't technically die on screen, that still seems like a pretty unquestionable death. Not only was he dying from a brain tumor, but he electrocuted himself - leaving him dead twice over, with a memorial stone in place and a touching farewell message left for his loved ones. However, he's evidently not dead - so how could that happen?

So, to understand how Michael is still alive, we have to understand how he died. The official end to Season 4 of Prison Break showed Sara, Lincoln, Sucre, and Michael Jr. visiting Michael's grave and celebrating his life. Michael's death was never actually televised, just hinted at, but it's clear that his family believes him to be dead.In the original finale, it was implied that Michael died of a brain tumor, but in a two-episode special released only on DVD titled Prison Break: The Final Break, it was actually revealed that Michael didn't die of natural causes. In the special, Michael sacrifices himself to break Sara out of prison (it's a long story), and essentially electrocutes himself to save her and their child. But, as fans of Prison Break know, sometimes death isn't permanent.
