Diana Hamilton beat the likes of Kidi and Kuame Eugene to Win the artist of the year award yesterday, 26th June 2021, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Diana Hamilton is the first female gospel artist to win the award and now joins Joe Mettle as the only two gospel artists to win the artist of the year award at the VGMA22.
A Joy News/Joy FM sports journalist, Gary AI-Smith, commenting on Diana Hamilton's win as the artist year posted on Twitter that it is very difficult to win against the religious side of Ghana at every almost every level.
According to him, Joe Mettle proved it, and now Diana Hamilton has affirmed it. He said that the gospel side does not make noise but has a huge influence in Ghana.
"It's very, very hard to win against the religious side of GH at almost any level. Joe Mettle proved it. DH proves it again.
The gospel side doesn't make much noise. But the influence is huge.
And, it is not just one song. It's a whole movement." He tweeted
