Elsie Effah Kaufmann is a Ghanaian scholar, biomedical engineer, and National Science and Mathematics Quiz mistress. Marian Ewurama Addy was the quiz master from 1993 to 2000, and Eureka Emefa Adomako from 2001 to 2005, until Elsie Kaufmann took over the show in 2006. Kaufmann attended Aburi Girls' Senior High School for her secondary education.
In 1988, she graduated from United World College of the Atlantic in Wales with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE), Master of Science in Engineering (MSE), and PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. Elsie Kaufmann will enter the University of Ghana as a professor in December 2020.
Kaufmann worked as a Research Supervisor at Rutgers University in New Jersey, United States of America, from May 1998 to June 2001, after working as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Bioengineering. She was also a Senior Lecturer and the first Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ghana .
