Nostalgia; Who Misses Afia Ansaa Ampene And The Mmaa Nkommo Show.

There have been women in media in the past who have graced our screens whether from Broadcast Journalism or Show Presenters. One of such women is Afia Ansaa Ampene who was host of popular social talk show, "Mmaa Nkommo".

On Tuesday evenings, back in the days on Ghana Television (GTV), patrons sat by their TV set to watch the show which discussed a wide range of social issues affecting women especially and children. From marriage issues, rape, abuse, economic issues of women, kayayei (head potters) menace and its associated issues and many more.

The show also travelled with episodes filmed in various countries across the globe and various conversations were had on issues Ghanaians in the diaspora faced. From Visa to immigration issues, marriages and many other issues were brought into the spotlight.

Resource Persons were always brought to the show to share their knowledge and expertise on various conversations held on the show, which always started and ended with its signature tune of Daddy Lumba 's song "Nyame Nhyira Mmaa".

Most of the audience of the show were believed to be women because of the focus of the show and its name "Mmaa Nkommo" which literally means "conversations about women".

Well done to Afia Ansaa Ampene for her contribution in the media space by tackling social issues which especially affect women and children.
