One of our Ghanaians well known Gospel musicians Patience Nyarko in an interview with Kwesi Essel on Zylofon Showbiznes said she is very worried about the Twi and English song misconception in the music industry. Even to some point Some presenters even stated categorically they won't play Twi songs which she see as very unfortunate.
According to Nyarko, saying every one should sing in English can not be possible because as for her she can only express herself in Twi and there is nothing wrong with that. Not necessarily Gospel Twi musicians but all Twi musicians.
Moreover, she made a point that, the pressure for everyone to sing in English has pushed some musicians to sing nonsense. They sing and they themselves don't understand the song, what are all these!! You can't throw your identify away to impress other people.
When she asked If someone write an English song to her will she sing it. She was like, though no one has brought her written English song before, but should there be any why not she would sing it perfectly. She added that, she herself is having about 20 English songs written down and she would soon sing and release one.
What do you make of Nyarko opinion, do you think Twi songs Are our heritage?
