Elikem Kumordzie, a Ghanaian actor, fashion designer and master of ceremonies, is widely known as Elikem The Tailor. In 2013, Kumordzie was third on the Big Brother Africa reality television show, representing Ghana.
Elikem Kumordzie said his decision to concentrate on his primary passion-fashion-has created more revenue than acting.
Speaking with Selly Gally about Joy Prime 's opinions, he said that although acting has its rewards, it is not as financially satisfying as his career in fashion.
The best thing I did was dream about getting myself a job for a day other than acting; a job that would earn me money.
"I wasn't A+ or a top list actor with the patterns in acting and seeing how things were going, where Nigeria can call me back and forth."
He explained that acting was not a profession as resourceful as he had hoped and "I felt like I should do more," hence the option to concentrate on fashion, something to him that "comes naturally."
He revealed that becoming a fashion designer allowed him the privilege of doing a lot for himself, including finishing his own house and providing chances for others to work.
His statement comes months after other actors chose him to advise talent to pursue a "day job" apart from acting.
For him, amid the problems the pandemic has had on many corporations, Covid-19 has offered him the chance to make profits.
Elikem said he "must have sold and distributed up to about 50,000 items," starting by giving away around 500 facemasks, producing masks for many businesses, including GHACEM.
"People are making money in this Covid era, although people are moaning. Then you go for the people who whine ... or you find a way to make money for Covid.
