Dave East, who is an American rapper according to a quick Google search, also decided to come for X's instantly iconic costume. He shared screenshots of X on his Instagram story, writing, "And ya’ll was mad at me about this n***a. Bati mon. Bun up!"
Lil Nas X promptly collected East as well, saying, "It’s “batty man” n****s can’t even be homophobic the proper way smh butchering the hell out of the patois." He reflected on the haters in another tweet, "Bro I don’t bother a soul in this industry. All I do is tweet and make bangers. Leave me alone damn."
And even today, X is still defending himself on Twitter. One person accused him of "manipulating children" by wearing the costume and putting on makeup, suggesting that the rapper dressing up as Minaj is influencing children to be gay.
"So by this logic if I put on a Shrek costume all of these little kids will want to Shrek right?" said X.
Lil Nas X is no stranger to dressing up as rappers for Halloween. While his Minaj costume took it to another level, he previously did a spot-on cosplay of Cam’ron in 2019.
Lil Nas X had a response for 50 though. The Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping artist fired back via Twitter, letting 50 know the comments were unwelcome.
“50 cent please stop making collages of me challenge,” he quipped. In a since-deleted tweet, he remarked, “why u in barb business?”
In a nut shell, Lil Nas X who is an ardent fan of Nicki Minaj pulled out all to the stops to dress up like her for Halloween. While the “Old Town Road” hitmaker’s costume was well received by many of his fans, it didn’t get the approval of 50 Cent.
The G-Unit boss was in disbelief over Lil Nas X’s costume, calling on Minaj to do something about it. “What the fuck, Nikki come get him !!! Lol,” 50 wrote on Twitter.
