In Ghana there are many awards for musicians, one of these awards is VGMA. It is one of the popular awards in Ghana, every year many artists in Ghana both male female get nominations. 
There are other award schemes out side Africa, one of them is Grammy Award it is United State Of America award which was inaugurated in 4th May 1956 in Los Angeles. Every year most of African musician are nominated for this award, it is one of the awards most African artists always trying to get nomination.
In Ghana Rocky Dawuni a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and record producer was the first artist to be nominated for Grammy. He recorded seven-length album, his sixth album titled Branches Of The Same Tree was nominated for a Grammy award. It was the best Reggae album in December 2015 for 58th annual Grammy Award.
The album was released on 31 march, making him the first nominee for Ghana. He was born in 1969 in Ghana, but he currently lives between Ghana and Los Angeles. Source Wikipedia.
