The african American martial arts champion who defeated Bruce lee in a real life match

Lee Jun-fan, commonly known as Bruce Lee, was a Hong Kong American martial artist, actor, director, martial arts instructor and philosopher. It is arguable, and most people accept, that Bruce Lee was the best martial artist in the entire world. He has performed such feats as the one inch punch, and his punching speed was five hundredths of a second. Bruce began his training in Wing Chun kung fu under Sifu Yip Man from the ages of 13 to 18.

Imagine defeating such a martial artist.

Well an African American arts champion once defeated him. This African American is Vic Moore.

Victor Moore holds a 10th Degree Black Belt in Karate and was one of the late Robert Trias' Chief instructors of the Shuri-ryū Karate system. Moore was one of the first ten original members of the Trias International Society and also studied and trained with William J. Dometrich in the style of Chito-ryu.

In 1967 Vic Moore appeared at the Long Beach International Karate Championships in Long Beach, California and participated in a martial arts speed drill against Jeet Kun Do founder and movie star, Bruce Lee. He then threw a straight punch directly at Moore's face, and stopped before impact.

"Bruce Lee told me that I was the fastest American that he ever seen" said Vic Moore

On July 20, 1973, the actor and martial-arts expert Bruce Lee dies in Hong Kong at age 32 from a brain edema possibly caused by a reaction to a prescription painkiller. During Lee's all-too-brief career, he became a movie star in Asia and, posthumously, in America.

Victor Moore died on July 23, 1962

They were great Martial arts that will never be forgotten.
