I couldn't control my tears after coming across this photo on the internet, it makes me understand that our forefathers really suffered back then and wished it never happened.

The mask prevented them from eating or drinking. Sometimes the slave masters would forced an apple (a whole ) into the mouths of slaves before they wore the metal mask on them with the padlocks so that they couldn't talk to serve as punishment in the slave camps.

After coronavirus invades the world, everybody was forced to wear the nose mask, can you imagine how difficult it's wearing the cotton blend fabric mask more than 2 hours, many are not able to breath and make talking very irritating.

Covid-19 wasn't there by then, but our forefathers were forced to used this metal mask during slavery for 3 main reasons;

To stop slaves form teaching our African local dialects (languages) to their children, whereby destroyed our dialects, and forced them to learn foreign languages.

To prevent the slaves from eating fruits such as apples, pineapples, oranges, cashews, bananas, plantains and sugarcanes etc while harvesting them, yet they were made to work consistently in all the plantation farms.

 To stop the slaves from chanting our African spiritual songs. Not only that those our spiritual and war songs affected the slave masters, it also motivated some slaves to rebel and fight back not minding losing their lives.

This was inhumane and those who did these action will be accountable infront of the creator, going back to history some of the tribes leaders were involved and they were part of it to slave their community so that they can exchange with some materialistic gained.

This so disheartening and disgusting, but the current generation is nothing good to talk about seems we still suffer in the hands of the slave masters in various forms, although, slaves are not in chains but it's every African child's dream to get a visa to live in the slave master's land as thousands are dying at sea enroute to Europe running away from black oppression at home.

Can Africans really forgive and forget about all the evil things that were subjected to our ancestors while the slave master haven't apologized till date, still subjecting us to numerous injustices.

 How I wish the black race could just unite by tommorow and form our own system, it's 2021, Africans need to move forward and make Africa great.
