My Spirit Left Me When I Went To Prison - Akuapim Poloo Shares Her Prison Experience And Advises

Akuapem Poloo shared her experience after she was jailed at the Nsawam Female Prison, on Onua TV. She said before she was sent to court, she was so scared that she could no longer eat. According to her, she felt someone from the showbiz industry was behind her imprisonment but she could not tell who it was, else she would have gone to apologize to that person. Again she said she didn't know that being naked in front of your child was a crime.

She stated that during her childhood days, she was in the room with her mother so she saw the nakedness of the elder ones so she never thought it was a crime. In court, the judge sentenced her to 90 days imprisonment and the judge immediately left the courtroom afterwards. She said the inmates had heard she was coming there so immediately she entered, they started shouting her name "Poloo".

She said before she entered the giant prison gate, her spirit left and she was filled with so much sorrow. Some of the inmates and prison officers encouraged her not to worry and that God will see her through. Going through the prison procedures, she was made to go naked to check if she was not carrying any illegal substance. She said her soap and pomade was taken from her and was made to bathe the locally made "Akuma blows".

However, she added that the prison officers treated her well as they kept on encouraging her. She said on the first day she was given a very hardball of banku with groundnut soup without any meat or fish, and she could not eat it. A nurse who came to check up on her bought her fried yam and beta malt which she ate. Akuapim Poloo added that during the 7 days she spent in prison, she could not eat and was always crying.

This made her grow very lean. In the interview, she advised the public to avoid taking nude pictures and she said that one thing she has learnt out of this experience is that there are situations in life in which no one can save you from them, therefore it is better to avoid them.
