Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi-based Zuria FM has died. Alhaji Abubakar Haruna died early this morning surrounded by family and loved ones, management of the radio station which broadcast mainly in the Hausa Language has announced.
"With enormous pains, ZURIA FM 88.7 informs the public the passing of its CEO, Alhaji Abubakar Haruna," the Management announced in the statement published on its Facebook Page.
Preparations are already underway for Alhaji who has battled ill health in recent weeks to be buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Alhaji Haruna was a UK-trained certified Pharmacist and Health Practitioner. He was an established businessman and Chief Executive Officer of the Mogonowriah Group of Companies. Alhaji Abubakar Haruna who is from the Zongo found the need to establish Zuria FM while he was alive with the aim of educating and to project positive image of people within the Zongos. The station became the first Zongo Station in the whole of Kumasi and broadcasted mainly in Hausa before Twi and English were added later.
