If She Was Alive, She Would Have Been 25 Years Today

If she was to be alive, she would have been celebrating her 25th birthday today, Wednesday, 16 February 2022. On 8 February 2018, Ghanaians lost a great talent to a road accident. The entire Ghanaian population, as well as music lovers all over the world, were shocked forwarding breaking news in respect of the sudden demise of a young talented Ghanaian dancehall/ Afrobeat songstress, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, popularly known by her stage name Ebony Reigns.

Ebony Reigns was a strong, energetic, creative songstress, full of animation. Even though she is no more, her legacies continue as her music still rains in most popular pubs and hideouts in the country. Prior to her sudden demise, Ebony was discovered and signed by Bullet to Ruff and Smooth Records Label. She had numerous hits to her name, among these include Maame Hw3, Turn on the Light, Hustle, Real, Date your father, Sponsor, Poison, kupe, and others with Dancefloor being her debut song in December 2015.

Her contributions and impacts to the entertainment industry earned her several accolades, including Artist of the year, Afro Pop Song of the year, and Album of the year, all in the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. In the year 2017, she won Artiste of the year in Bass Awards and Favourite Female Musician in People’s Celebrity Awards. In 2016, she also won the Best Female Video and New Discovery awards from 4syte Music Video Awards, and Best Dancehall Video awards from Bass Awards.

Her demise was a big punch to the entertainment industry, and she is much missed, as a great entertainer in the history of Ghana Music. May the Almighty God grant her a peaceful resting place in His bosom, as she journeyed with fair winds to paradise.

Her fond memories will remain with us always. Rest in Peace.
