PREGNANT for 22 MONTHS and about to give birth, See PICTURES of what happened.

Elephants give birth around every four years. Most females give birth for the first time between 14 and 15 years old.

Africa elephants can be pregnant for 22 months and this is the longest gestation period for all mammals, which makes sense how big elephants could be.

Elephants can give birth to only one baby unlike other animals. They can have about four or five babies in their lifetime. Elephants risk their life for their babies especially when attacked by predators.

Here are some interesting facts about elephants. A lot of the words we use for elephants are similar to those we use for cows. A baby elephant is called a calf, and then it grows up to be a cow if it’s a girl, or a bull if it’s a juvenile male. This makes sense because a group of elephants is also called a herd, just like a herd of cows. Elephants can live for about 60 to 70 years.
