Community in Upper West Gets a New Chief after 20 Years

The Secretary to the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Jimpenhi Naa Kadri has explained that the Kojokperi community with some of its residents fluent in Sissali has had no chief for over 20 years now.

The Process of Eskinment has taken place in Kojokperi with all traditional processes followed and adhered to.

The new chief is within the Waala Royal setting and enskinned by Waala though they speak Sissali and partly Dagaare.

Kojokperi is located in the Dafiama-Issa-Busei District of the Upper West Region.

A tribute was also thrown to Bantuo Wiihi, one of the Paramount Chiefs of the Area who died after the Second world war.

In a statement issued by the Secretary who issued a statement on behalf of Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, he wrote: "At Kpejikperi in the Daffiama-Busie-Issa District yesterday, a new Chief was selected for the paramountcy. Mr. Nadia Musah was the one selected. He chose the skin name, Kuoro Nadi Mush Kibei II. Before this, Kpejikperi had been without a chief for close to 20 years. The Kpejikperi Kuoro is one of the paramount chiefs under the Overlordship of the Wa Naa. Congratulations Kuoro, Allah bless your reign.".

Royalty has become interconnected in Wa, several areas within the Upper West Region can be seen as sharing a common tradition with the Waala traditional area, one of the Largest traditional areas in the Upper West Region, areas like Chansa, Loggu, Goripie, Busa, Guli and Kperisi.
