Dr. Godwin Dzah has said that government must be investigated about the basis of giving forest lands to one family since any executive instrument that seeks to do that should consider the interest of the good people of Ghana .
The international environmental lawyer ,Dr. Godwin Dzah also made some vehement propositions after scrutinizing the demerits of a recent decision of the government to give a greater percentage of the Achimota Forest Enclave to the Owoo Family.
He asked what the Lands Minister discovered to make certain advisory inputs for the declassification of these lands . The expert also bemoaned the fact that even if the government wanted to give these lands, did government consult the general public to seek approval before embarking on such a critical action ? The international environmental lawyer requested that the good people of Ghana should seek legal action against the government if they are not in support of the order .
He advised the government to be circumspect when they are taking decisions that affect any forest due to the benefits that the forest provides . According to the expert , the forest provides three main benefits namely research , recreational and ecological or environmental benefits .
He appreciated former Minister for Lands , Inusah Fuseini for his in-depth analysis and inputs during the discussions and asked that more scrutiny should be done to get to the bottom of the declassification to ensure a successful review of the advice initially provided by the current Lands Minister.
The discussion was held and many experts kept asking questions about why the previous Ghanaian Presidents did not take such critical decisions only for the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo government to 'hasten' with such an order .
Dzifa Bampoe, a renowned Journalist, recounted the opinion of the general public showing that many were disappointed when the announcement was made that part of the Achimota Forest Enclave was declassified .
