The maiden edition assessment of water security in Africa based on 10 indicator ranks Egypt, Botswana, Gabon, Mauritius and Tunisia deemed Africa’s top five.
Egypt, which is predominantly desert, was ranked as the most water - secure country in Africa, despite its concerns about water availability from the Nile River due to the construction of a major Ethiopian hydroelectric dam upstream.
