A male adult believed to be in his mid-30s has been reportedly killed by a Lion at the Accra Zoo. Speaking to journalists at the Accra Zoo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey explained that the incident happened yesterday, 28th August 2022 somewhere in the afternoon. One of the assistant managers on his normal tour to the zoo found the man dead inside the lion's cage.
If you watch the video carefully, you can see that the lion and the lioness are all secured in their cages. So the questions are; how did this man find his way into the lion's cage? Do people just enter the zoo without getting anyone to lead them to watch the animals? Mr. John Allotey showed the journalist how the guy probably find his way into the lion's cage.
When you watch the lion's cage very well, you can see that the topmost part of it has been tempered. So he believes that the man had a different intention of going to the zoo but couldn't accomplish it. The lioness has given birth to two cubs and Mr. John Allotey believes that this man was probably going to steal the cubs and maybe sell them. However, the lioness protected her cubs by killing the man.
The dead body of the man has been deposited at the morgue by the Ghana Police Service as the investigation is still ongoing. The authorities of Accra Zoo used the opportunity to warn all Ghanaians to stay away from the lion's cage for their safety. You go there to look at the animals and not to touch them or steal them.
