Use Tumeric Powder, Garlic And These Common Home Remedies To Prevent And Treat Boils For Relief

There are so many diseases that develop on our skin(body), as a result of bacterial infection. Among them boil. Boils are red, pus-filled bumps that are formed under the skin. It is often painful and grows larger when left untreated until it is drained. Larger boils are also known as skin abscesses. The area surrounding the affected place can be red. Boils generally form when pus collects under your skin then builds on a hair follicle. When this is due to an infection, it is known as a furuncle.

Boils are not always due to an infection and can happen in a condition known as Hidradenitis suppurativa(A chronic suppurative inflammatory disease of the apocrine sweat glands). Boils most often form where there’s friction, sweat, or hair, that is the neckline, face, armpit, and butt crack are some common places. In this article, I ‘am going to teach you how you can treat boils personally at home.

1.Use Garlic

Garlic and onion are members of the allium plant family. Like an onion, garlic contains an antimicrobial compound called allicin. To prepare one, peel and crush five or six cloves and then boil them in one-fourth (¼)of water for 5 minutes then remove from heat and let brant for about 30 to 45 minutes strain and dump the cloves. Add the water to a bath of tepid water and soak for 30 minutes, repeating daily until the boils have cleared up. Or you can Squeeze the juice from a clove of garlic and apply the juice directly to the boil then you cover it with a bandage. You can also apply garlic juice to an opened boil to help prevent infection. 

2. Neem

Indian lilac is also known as neem is used for the treatment and prevention of many sicknesses due to its antibacterial, antimalarial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-hyperglycemic properties found in it. So because of these functions, it can be used to cure boils and soothe the skin. Prepare it by grinding a few neem leaves and apply the paste on the affected area, cover the area with a clean cloth or bandage to prevent the attraction of dirt or germs. Do this twice a day to get rid of the boils.

3. Apply heat

The heat helps increase circulation in an area affected therefore bringing more white blood cells and antibodies to the area to fight against the infection. So in this case, applying heat to a boil is one of the best home remedies you can try at home. Applying a warm compress to the area for about twenty (20) minutes at a time will help break down the pus from within. Do this three(3) or more times per day until the boil is furnished.

4. Turmeric powder

Turmeric powder also possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties can help heal a boil and get rid of it quickly. One can choose to ingest turmeric powder. To ingest it, boil a teaspoon of turmeric powder in water or milk, then let cool, now drink the mixture three times per day daily. But to use it topically, mix turmeric with water, ginger, or both to make a paste then you apply the paste to the boil at least twice a day. Turmeric can also be applied directly to your skin. Try adding a few drops of turmeric essential oil to a cream or oil-based moisturizer and use it as you would your regular moisturizer. This is good for those who frequently develop boils.

5. Onions

Onion is the brother of garlic because it also has a great solution for heat boils as it contains essential oils that have analgesic, antifungal, and antiseptic properties. Onion’s natural absorption properties may even help drain the pus out of a boil. Applying onion to your skin also generates heat, therefore, stimulating blood circulation and your body’s natural wound healing mechanism. Cut a slice of the onion and keep it on the boil. Now, use a cloth to wrap the affected area. Do this a few times a day and it will clear the boil.

 6. Apply Epsom salt

Magnesium sulfate is a naturally occurring mineral that was discovered in Epsom, England. The salt dissolves into magnesium and sulfate when added to warm water. Epsom salt is not just a relaxing remedy but it can help treat boils too. The salt may help dry out the pus causing the boil to drain. You can dissolve Epsom salt in warm water and soak a compress in it. Apply the compress to the affected place for 20 minutes at a time. Do this at least three times daily until the boil is gone to get relief.

7. Apply Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural essential oil and it is one of the best home remedies for skin diseases. All you have to do is to clean the surface of the boil by using warm water and then spread a few drops of tea tree oil on the affected area. On other hand, you can also dilute it with water before applying it. After the application, use a clean bandage or surgical cotton to cover the affected area. Apply tea tree oil once a day.

8. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar will cleanse the boil and disinfect it. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties which help relieve the redness and the pain caused by the boil. How to prepare it, take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and skillfully apply it over the boil. You can also dilute it with some water and then apply it to the boil. Repeat this process several times a day to aid healing.

Take Note: Home solutions can be more effective for newly manifested boils. Make sure to use the home remedy as needed to see the best results. If you have not seen results within a week or if the boil has gotten larger instead and more painful or started to show signs of infection it is good to see your doctor for medical attention.

Your doctor may drain the boil by lancing it and prescribe antibiotics to treat the underlying infection and determine the right antibiotic for you, they might test a sample of pus from the boil before prescribing medicine for treatment.
