Meet Yu Zhenhuan, a 42-year-old man who was officially named the hairiest man on the planet by the Guinness Book of Records in 2002. Yu Zhenhuan comes from China and he's one of the rockstars in China probably because of his unique looks.
According to experts, Yu Zhenhuan's body is made up of about 96% of long hair reaching up to 6cm. It was revealed that only the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet were not covered with hair during his formative years.
After intense examination and research, doctors reckoned that he shave off certain parts of his body. However, he refused because he became too attached to it.
It's due to his hair that has made him stand out as one of the celebrated musicians in China. However, there was a downturn in his life that landed him in a hospital. It was revealed that he lost a third of his hearing due to the overgrown hair inside his ears that filled the external auditory canals.
This challenge was characterized by nausea, headaches and migraines, and doctors believed that the rapid hair growth could affect his brain. So they recommended that he undergo a surgery. Granted, the surgery was successfully conducted.
According to Dr. Chun Jin Yang, the director of laser surgery clinic, this procedure included widening the auditory passage, correcting the birth defect and preventing the hair from growing back.
As stated at the outset, Yu Zhenhuan was considered the hairiest man on the planet, however, in 2019, he was overtaken by twins in Mexico whose bodies are made up of 98% of hair.
