The President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo is currently on a three-day tour of the Eastern Region. During the day two of his visit to his home region on Wednesday, October 6, among other things, the President paid a courtesy call on Aburihene and Adontehene of Akwapim, Otoobour Djan Kwesi, II, he also inspected ongoing work on the retooling and equipping of the Aburi Presbyterian Hospital. His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo also commissioned Shoe Fabriek Ltd; a project which is part of the One District One Factory flagship program. The President again inspected ongoing work on the construction Nkurakan-Adukrom-Tom road and commissioned the newly constructed administrative block of the Okere District Assembly.
After the President made a Facebook post of the Fabriek Shoe Factory and other projects he either commissioned or inspected in the Eastern Region, many commended him especially for his efforts of establishing factories in each district.
The one District One Factory initiative was initiated by the Nana Addo-led government to help create employment opportunities for the youth by establishing new factories from scratch or resuscitation struggling industries. The move which is aimed at serving as the bedrock for massive industrialization is met with mixed reactions as the opposition National Democratic Congress accuses Nana Addo of commissioning already existing factories as part of the One District One Factory initiative.
Despite the successes chalked by the program, most Ghanaians are not in the know of the existence of these factories dotted across some districts of the country. It is on this note, Ghanaians who appreciate the President for his efforts, blast the media and communicators of the ruling New Patriotic Party for not informing the public about the process made by the initiative.
Here are some of the reactions to Nana Addo's post;
