Over the years we have had controversies surrounding this particular beauty parent and its winners starting from the very first edition which crowned Ama of the Central region as the winner through to the just ended 2021 edition which crowned Benedicta Sarfoa Asamoah of the Ashanti Region.
Over the years fans have been dissapointed as to why their favourites were not crowned even though their votes were leading. Organizers of the show are also quick to rebut that votes alone cannot be the deciding factor and that the queen of the night is unanimously chosen by the judges since they have 60% power in the deciding factor.
What that means is that you may be the most intelligent and Eloquent like Setor or exhibit the most exquisite talent and be consistent like wedaga or be the most beautiful like Manu, if you lack these qualities and attributes you are most likely to be passed over...
In an interview with a past queen of Season One of Ghana's Most Beautiful she reiterated that performances on the night of the finale counts for nothing when it comes to crowning the queen. She further stated that votes would also not change the score sheet of the judges pick.
Running up to the end of the show sponsors may already have their pick of which queen they seek to project their brand based on certain attributes that they may have noticed in the queens. These favourites may not be one or two. Organizers and sponsors may have an eye on even up to four prospective winners and judges would have been briefed.
She further explained that the trajectory of performances and the queen's effort during the course of the show will eventually determine whether their favourite pick is crowned. The interesting twist is that there may not be just one pick but several picks and there are positions to the pick as well. This means that a pick may be the first best second best or third best.
These physical attributes aside intelligence and talent would likely secure a girl the crown. She must have one, a moderately bubbly and striking personality. Two, be graceful and elegant. Three, have a height of about 5.6 and above and if she doesn't pray no one else has. Four, have a moderately beautiful face and good looks and finally have a good and beautiful stature and striking personality.
Some people believe the GMB pageant has become predictable and tilted towards organizers choice but really let's be real what can an investor cum sponsor do if not get their money's worth.
She advises young ladies who wish to participate in beauty pageants to assess themselves very well before putting themselves up for these pageants in order not to end up humiliated and depressed.
This year's newly crowned queen is Benedicta Sarfoa Asamoah of the Ashanti Region. Does she posses these qualities? Kindly share your thoughts with us.
