Mass media is all pervasive and advertisements are always seeking out to grab people’s attention. Every day people are constantly bombarded with images of beautiful looking women , who vow to make every woman’s life perfect. In other words, it appears as though the body enhancement industry thrives on people’s vulnerability to buy into the ‘beauty myth’ which the people in media have successfully stereotyped.
Sister Afia is a renowned song artist in Ghana and has recently posted some pictures that are causing much stir. In the pictures, she was parading her curves and people believe they have been enhanced. Do you agree to the fact that her curves are enhanced or it's her normal curves.
So pervasive and powerful are media images that more than two-thirds of girls interviewed in one study said that models and adverts of body enhancement products influence their idea of the perfect body shape.
Advertising has long been blamed for projecting certain stereotypes that have a strong influence on society.
