Tomato paste is produced by simmering fresh tomatoes until they begin to break apart. Then they’re strained to remove the skin and seeds, and cooked for at least several hours, until their moisture evaporates and they become a thick paste. Salt and olive oil are typically added, but some commercial products add other seasonings and sweeteners, such as high fructose corn syrup. 

Tomato paste literally provides all the health benefits a fresh tomato can provide. Whiles others prefer using fresh tomatoes for preparing their foods, others are of the view that packaged tomato pastes are the best, since it enhances the colour of the food and also give it a unique taste that you can't just get using fresh tomatoes.

Studies have shown that processed tomato products such as tomato paste have higher levels of lycopene, an antioxidant known for its protective effect against some forms of cancer and also promoting skin health.

Tomatoes paste affects your health in many ways. These are a few benefits of Tomato paste.

1. It is rich in vitamin C

Vitamin C in your skin helps limit damage from exposure to the sun. Men should get 90 milligrams of vitamin C in their daily diet, while women need 75 milligrams. The daily intake for pregnant women increases to 80 milligrams. Anyone who smokes needs an extra 35 milligrams each day. One tablespoon of tomato paste has 3.5 milligrams of vitamin C.

2. It is rich in iron

Tomato paste is rich in iron which is an essential nutrient for providing blood, because of this it can be added to the diet of anaemic patient to help in the production of blood.

3. It is good for the skin

It contains some essential oils like olive oil which is very good for the skin and may protect the skin against cancer.
