The Food and Drugs Authoritiy of Ghana has sent out important warning to all Ghanaians, especially those who are into bleaching. The message was contained in a Safety Alert released on Monday, 4th October, 2021.

The FDA further warned the prolonged use of glutathione may cause complications to the liver, kidney, nervous system and skin to a large extent.

" Additionally, unapproved products which would not have been properly evaluated by the FDA may be improperly manufactured, and may contain unknown harmful ingredients or contaminants. Apart from the dangers of the product itself, administering it under unsterilise conditions or by people who are not certified to administer injectable preparation is unsafe and may lead to transmission of diseases such as HIV.
