Getting natural-looking curls can be a challenge when your hair is normally straight. However, there are techniques you can use to create natural-looking curls, such as: There are also several things you can do to improve your curls if your hair already has a bit of wool.
Use of socks and washcloths
-Wash your hair. Start with your hair clean and damp, but not soaking wet. If your hair is still soaking wet, soak it in a soft towel to absorb the moisture. You may also want to comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles.
If you have thick hair, you may want to blow dry it almost dry. Otherwise, your hair may not dry out at night and the lobes won't work. You can also wait while your curling hair to dry, for example by sitting under a hairdryer with a rag in your hair to place the curls.
-Add a little hair gel, curling cream, or mousse. If your hair doesn't hold the curls well, you can use gel, curl-strengthening cream (for thick hair), or mousse to shape the curls. Using gel, cream to strengthen the curls or mousse will also help lengthen the style.
-Divide your hair into smaller sections. Start by dividing the hair in half, then divide each half into two smaller sections. This will make it easier to work with your hair.
You may also want to trim the tops of your hair, so you can work one section at a time.
-Start wrapping your hair in socks. Take a thin section of hair and wrap it around the middle of the sock. Hold the ends of the hair under the fabric and start wrapping your hair around the fabric. Continue to wrap until you reach the scalp.
By wrapping smaller sections of hair, you get tighter curls. Wrapping the larger sections will create looser curls.
-Tie the fabric in a tight knot. Gather both ends of the fabric and tie it into a tight knot. You may need to double the lobes if you have very thick hair.
You can also use bobby pins to keep your hair in place if you're having trouble securing it.
-Wrap the rest of your hair. Continue wrapping your hair around the cloth until there is no hair left to wrap. Try to keep tabs where possible, but don't worry about making them perfect.
-Wait for the hair to dry or use a hairdryer before removing the washcloth. Your hair can take a few hours to dry, so you may need to let your hair dry overnight. You can also use a hairdryer if you want to tighten the curls faster. Don't remove the lobes too quickly or your locks may loosen.
-Style your hair as you wish. When you remove the lobes, your curls can be very tight. You can leave it as is, or you can shuffle it by moving your finger through it.
Spray some hairspray to keep your curls in place. If you prefer softer old style wavy curls, you can also comb your hair with a brush
