How healthy 'akple' is.

Akple is a popular Ghanaian food common among the people of Ewes. It is made of corn flour, cassava flour, salt and water. It is consumed without using utensils. Akple is rolled into a ball shape and best served with okro soup, fish, chicken and 'wele'. In fact, akple is a very soft food hence digests quickly so can be eaten anytime of the day. One needs to eat about 2-3 balls of it to get satisfied. It has so many health benefits hence most Ghanaians like this dish.

Below are some benefits of eating akple.

1.It gives energy.

As already said, akple is made of corn and cassava dough hence contains carbohydrates to give energy.


2. Helps repair worn-out tissue and in body building.

The fish, meat and wele served alongside the food contain protein which help repair damaged and old tissues in the body and helps in building the body.


3. Boosts the immune system and help in the clotting of blood.

The vitamin C content in the okro soup helps in the protection of the body by boosting the immune system. Again, vitamin K also in the okro helps the body to clot blood easily in order to prevent excessive bleeding.
