A smoothie is a thick blended beverage with shake like consistency, normally pureed in a blender containing fruits and/or vegetables as well as an added liquid such as fruit juice, vegetable juice, milk, or even yogurt.nSmoothies are the perfect meal or snack no matter what the weather. It is never too cold nor hot to have an awesome smoothie!
The Strawberry/Soy milk smoothie is no exception to this. I am going to teach you how to prepare this smoothie with just three major ingredients that can be bought at your local grocery store. These are: strawberry, soy milk and banana.
Fresh strawberries are very high in water, so their total carbohydrate content is very low. More than 25 different anthocyanins have been found in strawberries. Pelargonidin is the most abundant. Anthocyanins are responsible for the bright colors of fruits and flowers. They are usually concentrated in the skins of fruit, but berries, such as strawberries also tend to have anthocyanins in their flesh. Anthocyanin content is usually proportional to color intensity, increasing greatly as the fruit ripens. Anthocyanin rich foods are associated with numerous health benefits, especially regarding heart health. Eating strawberries is associated with a reduced risk of many chronic diseases. Strawberries may improve heart health, lower blood sugar levels, and help prevent cancer.
Soy milk is a plant based nondairy beverage, often consumed as an alternative to milk. It’s made from soybeans, and many brands fortify their soy milk with vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D and calcium. “Soy milk offers culinary diversity, creamy texture, and a healthful nutritional profile, including essential omega-3 fatty acids [if fortified] and flavonoids that exert antioxidant, anti inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties,” says Julieanna Hever, RD, a plant based foods dietitian in the Los Angeles area and the author of The Vegiterranean Diet.
Bananas can be helpful in overcoming depression "due to high levels of tryptophan, which the body converts to serotonin, the mood elevating brain neurotransmitter," Flores said. Plus, vitamin B6 can help you sleep well, and magnesium helps to relax muscles. Additionally, the tryptophan in bananas is well known for its sleep-inducing properties. According to a quest conducted in 2007 at the National Heart and lung Institute, Imperial College London, London, UK, bananas will protect kids against a cough and plenty of associated symptoms of an asthma attack.
