Ghana is largest exporter of unrefined Shea Butter in the world and has the Biggest Shea butter factory in Africa.

There are around 94 millions tree in the country which produce around 60000 tonnes of Shea nuts in a year. The export of Shea butter from Ghana is currently valued around USD 66 millions.

This quite a remarkable feat that the country needs to be proud of, in fact there's more room for improvement. Gradually and slowly the Ghanaian economy will revolutionized into an industrial economy, China and Germany did it hence we will get there soon enough.

Shea butter commonly known as shea tree, shi tree or vitellaria, is a tree of the family Sapotaceae. It is the only species indigenous to Africa.The shea tree is a traditional African food plant. It has been claimed to have potential to improve nutrition, boost food supply in the "annual hungry season", foster rural development.

Shea butter has many uses and may or may not be refined. In the West it is most commonly used in cosmetics. Throughout Africa it is used extensively for food, is a major source of dietary fat, and for medicinal purposes. In Ghana and Nigeria, shea butter is a major ingredient for making the African black soap.
