Honey is a by-product of flower nectar and the upper aero-digestive tract of the honey bee, which is concentrated through a dehydration process inside the bee hive. Honey has a very complex chemical composition that varies depending on the botanical source. It has been used both as food and medicine since ancient times.
Below are ways to know if your honey is original.
1. METHOD OF WATER TESTING
This is a simple test to see if your honey is genuine. Fill a jar halfway with water and a table spoon of honey. If the honey melts, it's a forgery. When the honey coagulates or settles to the bottom, you know it's authentic.
2. THE FLAME TASTE
Because of the organic chemicals it contains, purified and natural honey is combustible. If a match stick is dipped in honey and struck, it easily lights up, the honey is unique. If the match doesn't ignite, the honey isn't real.
3) Drop some on the sand if it is pure honey it will not sink immediately.
As a professional beekeeper with experience, I want to say categorically here that pure honey attracts ANTS, honey contains sugar and it is sweet it is an erroneous belief that ants will not come near honey, even the bee hives in the farm are threatened by ants that wants to take over because of the sweet odour they are perceiving.
