Ghana Among The Dirtiest Countries in the World

The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is an assessment of how clean or dirty a country is. The rankings places countries from the cleanest to the dirtiest bases mainly on ecosystem vitality and environmental health.


Ghana's place in the 2020 Environmental Performance Index is an eyesore. Ghana is the 7th dirtiest country in Africa according to the 2020 rankings and the 12th dirtiest in the world.


In Africa Ghana is only cleaner than Burundi, Chad, Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Ghana ranks 160/171


According to the rankings, the top 10 cleanest countries in the world are:

Denmark

Luxembourg

Switzerland

United Kingdom

France

Austria

Finland

Sweden

Norway

Germany


and the dirtiest countries include:


The Environmental Performance Index considers 24 key points of assessment including air quality, water and sanitation, biodiversity and habitat, and sustainability. The goal is to put countries on their toes as far as cleanliness and environmental health is concerned. Without a clean environment, human beings and animals cannot be healthy.
