Dr. Phillip Bannor, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), has announced and indicated the requirements for the establishment of Hospital in Ghana.
Dr. Philip A. Bannor, MD, is appointed by the President as the new acting Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA).
According to Dr. Phillip new standards of HeFRA,in order for a Hospital to operate, it must have 40 beds and 3 doctors.
He further on added that, this standard applies to every existing Hospital yet to undergo expansion. This was revealed when he was giving a speaking in Adom Fm on Dawso Nsem.
Dr Bannor said his outfit’s doors are opened to all health facilities when the need arises.
“We give advice on what kind of machines are needed to help the running of the facility among others so you don’t fall short of the standards when we come for our annual monitoring,” he stated.
He also added that, some laboratories and hospitals has been closed down illegally operating without license and also performing Covid-19 test with standard machines.
According to Dr Bannor, HeFRA regulates 45 categories of health facilities in the country and they are still open for more.
