Good News For People Of Northern Ghana

The Northern region has moved a step further in its quest to conquer the global Coronavirus pandemic with the opening of the first - ever private COVID-19 testing facility in Tamale. Located at Fuo Community Hospital, the testing center will support government's effort at tracing, rapid testing and treatment of people infected by the virus. The testing device known as the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) can undertake one test at a time and produces results in about 45 minutes.

Authorities of the Fuo Community Hospital said during an opening ceremony that the aim of instituting the testing facility was to bring testing services to the door steps of the people and to also ensure the disease does not take any severe toll on areas in the North of Ghana. Alhaji Sumaila, owner of the Fuo health facility disclosed that the initiative was a collaborative effort of his outfit and Pharmaceutical giants, mpharma.

Health Authorities in the Northern Region have welcomed the new testing center, saying it will reduce the burden on the testing facility at the Tamale Teaching Hospital as it is overwhelmed considering it is the only center that serves all five regions of the North.
