Ghana's Korle-bu teaching Hospital and all the other big Hospitals across Ghana are doing so well for West Africa, during the heat of the covid pandemic, a lot of West African nationals were caught illegally entering Ghana and most of them said they trusted Ghana's health care system and hospitals to adequately handle the situation.

The hospital is the premier health-care facility in Ghana, being the only public tertiary hospital in the southern part of the country and affiliated with the medical school of the University of Ghana. Three centres of excellence, the National Cardiothoracic Centre, the National Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Radiotherapy Centres are all part of it. In 2019, the hospital gained a license from the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), after meeting the requirement.
