Confirmed, Ghana Records First Case Of MonkeyPox.

The Ghana health service have opened that Monkeypox has entered the country. I will share with you in this article how the first case was recorded in the country.

Monkeypox is a rare disease that is caused by an infection with a virus present in monkeys. It belongs to a group of Orthopoxvirus genus. The virus was first discovered in some colonies of monkeys in 1958. The first human case of the disease was however recorded in 1970 in Democratic Republic of Congo during a period of intensified efforts to eliminate smallpox.

The Ghana health service has confirmed that a Ghanaian has been affected by monkeypox. The director General of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye in a press briefing today made it known that "one case was recorded in a Ghanaian who travelled from the United States of America to Ghana so he might have picked it up from there".
