How worm infections can affect your child’s health

Worms are mostly found in the intestines where they depend on a child’s nutrition to feed off on. This causes infection in the intestines but can be easily treated.

Worm infections are caused by various intestinal worms. The most common intestinal worms are roundworms, tapeworms, hookworm and threadworms.

If a child has worm infection, a certified doctor will conduct an examination and compare the symptoms so as to be able to identify the type of worm infection in the child.

Worm infection causes your child to have loss of appetite, Diarrhea, Anaemia and malnutrition symptoms.

Each worm infection has distinct symptoms as listed below:

1) Tapeworm infection causes jaundice, malnutrition, nausea, vomiting etc.

2) Pinworm infection causes painful urination, itching around the anus etc.

3) Roundworm infection causes Diarrhea, dry cough etc.

4) Hookworm infection causes coughing, fatigue, anaemia etc.

Children are more likely to come in contact with germs due to inadequate hand washing, consuming infected water or food, improper hygiene, touching pets infected with worms or soil containing worm eggs. 

Once these germs enter their mouth can lead to worm infections. Worm infection can be treated by keeping good hygiene and taking prescribed Anti-worm or deworming medications.
