The United Kingdom recently released a lists of continents and countries whose vaccines or vaccine certificates would not recognized by their country. UK therefore placed these countries on their red list. As a result of this, countries on the red list would have to self isolate for some days in the United Kingdom upon arrival at their airport. Ghana was unfortunately part of the red list countries.
There is however a good news for Ghanaians as the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Ms Harriet Thompson has made it clear that, from today, 11th October, 2021, Ghana is removed from this red list of the UK.
UK removed 47 countries from their red list and Ghana was part of it.
"For those countries whose citizens are not able to enter the UK, there are big changes to the vaccine certification. So again from Monday, the vaccine certificates issued in Ghana after vaccination will be recognized by the UK system which means no self-isolation, no pre-departure test, and no day-old test, so it will be much easier for persons from Ghana to enter the UK,” She said.
She also continued by saying that, there are no African countries on their red list anymore. England and other countries in the Kingdom will openly and easily receive Ghanaians who are vaccinated already without any other restrictions and quarantines.
