The President of the State, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa yesternight spoke to the country about measures taken by the government to combat the spread of the third wave of Covid-19, the Delta Variant virus. According to him, he delayed his next nation's address because he thought the virus would have disappeared from the country by now. This comment seems to suggest that the government let their guard down as citizens also disregard the Covid-19 protocols leading to an increase in the number of cases again.
As we speak, our active cases stand at four thousand and ninety-four (4,094). So far the Health Ministry has been able to conduct 1,394,540 tests in the country, out of which 101,170 persons have been infected with the virus, and 96,255 persons have recovered. 819 people have sadly departed from us due to this virus.
The Greater Accra Region and the Ashanti Region continue to remain the hotspots of this deadly virus. Some Ghanaians thought that the vaccination of Covid-19 will solve the problem but up till now, some people have not been able to receive their second dose.
The Minister for Health, Hon Kwaku Agyemang Manu has already expressed his frustration and desperation to acquire the vaccine through any means without approval from Parliament by going into a fraud agreement where we were even going to purchase the Sputnik V vaccine at $19 instead of $10.
Some Ghanaians after this explanation from the Minister thought that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should let Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu steps down as Minister of the Health Ministry. They argued that a confused man cannot handle the issues that are about to come out of the third wave of the Coronavirus.
In view of this, Tilapia has drawn the cartoon below asking how the Health Minister, Hon Kwaku Agyemang Manu is ready to face this third wave of the virus. Tilapia described the Minister as being confused about this third wave as he was with the Sputnik V vaccine acquisition.
Some Ghanaians also agreed with Tilapia that the Minister is not in a position to assist the government fight the third wave of the Covid-19 so it is better he resigns for someone else to continue the fight. Check out reactions from some Ghanaians below:
